A. Kalendová University of Pardubice, Czech Republic
is the recipient of the journal's Outstanding Paper Award for Excellence for her paper
"Mechanism of the action of zinc-powder in anticorrosive coatings"
which appeared in Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials, Vol. 49 No. 3,2002
Andrea Kalendová born in 1962, graduated in the field of analytical chemistry with orientation to the environment protection at the University of Pardubice in 1987 and gained her PhD degree at the Department of Inorganic Technology in 1996. In 2001 she habilitated as a dozent. At present she is a guarantor of the research laboratory for pigments and fillers in the Institute of Polymeric Materials.
Besides teaching duties she devotes her efforts to the research activities in the field of anticorrosive organic coatings and to the research and development of advanced nontoxic anticorrosive pigments. Besides syntheses she also studied the mechanisms of anticorrosion actions of appropriate pigments in the coatings.
A series of outputs of the research have been transferred to industrial practise. The aim is to connect the scientific research to the requirements of industry and also finding an optimum solution with respect to the properties of materials and environment protection.
