For packaging delicate electronic products or preventing rust on metal parts,Techmer PM has just the ticket: a proprietary masterbatch with a highly effective vapor corrosion inhibitor (VCI).

Dubbed Techspersee™ PM11280E1P VCI, the VCI masterbatch contains a special chemical compound that migrates out of a blown film and forms a protective layer on the packaged product. Although this surface barrier is microscopically thin, Techmer PM says it is very efficient at inhibiting corrosion. “The VCI coating creates a tight chemical seal on the packaged product, blocking contact from the oxygen and water molecules that cause corrosion,” says Mark Jordan, VP-Marketing.

The masterbatch is designed for use in polyolefin blown films, particularly LDPE and LLDPE films. Because the VCI layer is constantly rejuvenated, blown films made with Techspersee™ PM11280E1P can be used to protect electronic and metal products in storage as well as during shipping.

Techmer PM supplies its Techspersee™ PM11280E1P as clear polyethylene masterbatch. The masterbatch produces films that pass both Method 3005 and Method 4031 of Federal Test Method Standard 101C. Techspersee™ PM11280E1P is aggressively hygroscopic, so exposure to humid air should be avoided.
