JPCL, PRA partner for Protective Coatings Conference
JPCL, PRA partner for Protective Coatings Conference The Paint Research Association (PRA; Middlesex, UK), in conjunction with JPCL, is organizing a protective coatings conference to be held October 24-25, 2007, entitled “Protecting the Substrate & the Environment.” The conference, co-sponsored by SSPC, will be held at the Mercure Aan de Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
In response to regulations aimed at reducing solvent emissions from paint during application, raw-material suppliers and paint formulators are challenged to find new, environmentally friendly formulations with similar or improved performance compared to the traditional coatings. According to PRA, the two-day event will cover new developments in high- performance coatings used in the protection of structural steel and concrete in onshore, offshore, and marine applications. The conference also will address new developments in testing and specifications, particularly in relation to the impact of surface preparation on long-term coating performance.
The main purpose of the conference, PRA, reports, is to facilitate innovation by bringing together experts involved in the supply chain of protective coatings with specifiers, consulting engineers, contractors, applicators, end-users,raw-material suppliers, and coatings formulators. According to the Association, technical staff involved in the supply of protective coatings also will find the conference useful.
A total of 28 papers are scheduled to be presented by experts in the concrete and steel coatings industries. The presentations will be broken down into four sessions, which will focus on new resin development, testing and specifications, functional technology, and applications in service.
