The Decca Systems Study and Management Division has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Department of Commerce to study high speed navigation and collision avoidance for hovercraft. The project will take seven months to complete and will comprise an examination of the system requirements of large next generation hovercraft, weighing up to 4,000 tons, capable of speeds of 80 knots plus, and having a trans‐oceanic capability.
