THE design of gas turbine combustion chambers and the demands made upon the various components as operating conditions become tougher have been considered at a symposium which has highlighted the compromises necessary to achieve optimum performance. The papers and discussions at this symposium fall into four categories: Alternative Fuels and Fuel Injection; Combustor Development; Soot and Radiation; and Combustion Modelling.
