Advances in sustainable aviation
International Symposium on Electric Aviation & Autonomous Systems (ISEAS20) and International Symposium on Aircraft Technology, MRO & Operations (ISATECH20) were held online between September 22 and 24, 2020. ISEAS, international, multidisciplinary symposium, aimed to address current issues in the field of aviation such as electrification of aerial vehicles all-electric aircraft, electric generation and storage in aerial vehicles, and so on. ISATECH, international, multidisciplinary symposium, aimed to address current issues in the field of aerospace such as UAVs, propulsion technology, MRO, air transportation operations and so on. Selected papers, which were presented in these conferences, and additional papers of the well-known authors in these topics were invited for publication in this special issue. After the review process, ten papers (nine research paper and one conceptual paper) were selected for publication. The titles of these papers are as follows:

Holistic approaches and advanced technologies in aviation product recycling.
Examining pragmatic failure and other language-related risks in global aviation.

Estimation of helicopter emission and the greenest helicopters within the London Heathrow and London City Control Zone.
The effects of airline strategies on environmental sustainability.
Environmental assessment of entropy control in flight process.
Surface roughness optimization in milling operation for aluminum alloy (Al 6061-T6) in aviation manufacturing elements.
Visualization concept for maintenance information using wearable devices.
