BAe Systems order

Keywords: BAe Systems, Inlac, Paint, Environmental regulations

When BAe Systems needed to update its Filton-based Airbus business to comply with the latest environmental legislation, it awarded the contract to Inlac, UK,the general industries division of Du«rr, international leader in paint shop technology.

At the existing plant, just to the north of Bristol, where BAE Systems manufactures detailed aircraft parts and machined ribs, they needed a company with proven turnkey capabilities, technical expertise and project management skills.

The contract involved stripping out the old facility and installing the new plant and equipment, which includes a conveyorised paint plant, two fully down-draught spraybooths, flash-off, drying oven, paint mix, and 2PK proportional mix units. A power and free conveyor is to replace the old manually operated overhead trolley rails, and will automatically transport components to the selected spray booth and throughout the paint plant.
