Micrografx Inc. recently announced that it has been selected by Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., to take the helicopters manufacturer's Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMS) to the next level with rich, intelligent vector graphics content.

A division of United Technologies Corporation, which builds helicopters for the armed forces, Sikorsky developed an electronic publishing and document management system to manage technical data, improve productivity, reduce errors and lower documentation costs. The system gives Sikorsky customers easy access to electronic product manuals for maintenance and repairs.

Micrografx is providing Sikorsky with its ActiveCGM suite of solutions,including ActiveCGM Author, Active Schematics and ActiveCGM Runtime, which allow users to perform customised editing capabilities, as well as utilise,intelligent hotspotting on technical drawings and schematics. ActiveCOM is believed to be the first standards-based software suite designed to support the creation and delivery of intelligent graphics on the Web or on corporate Internets.

By integrating these solutions, Sikorsky now can view, redline, edit and modify technical graphics and photographic images in a manner consistent with its existing illustration and authoring workflow management system.
