New jets on order

Keywords: CityFlyer Express, Aircraft industry

British Airways subsidiary, CityFlyer Express, recently confirmed an order for six Avro RJ100 jets and has taken options on six all new Avro RJX100 aircraft.

The aircraft will be used to upgrade selected routes currently operated by ATR aircraft, as well as introducing some new routes on to the CityFlyer network. Around 100 new jobs for pilots, cabin crew and engineers will be created at Gatwick as a direct result of the move to more jet services.

The current fleet of ten RJ100 aircraft will be boosted to 16 when the final jet has been delivered. Delivery of the aircraft, manufactured in Woodford, near Manchester, UK, was scheduled from November 2000 to April 2001.
