Dr Eng. S. Inaba (Plate 17), who has led Fanuc for almost 50 years to its present leading position in its specialized field of factory automation, is to concentrate more of his time as honorary chairman on expansion of the group as it enters a period of unprecedented growth.

In order to facilitate this move, the group has announced the promotion of Mr Ryoichiro Nozawa (Plate 18) from his previous position as vice-chairman to chairman, in which capacity he will take on responsibility for manufacturing and supervision of the creation of three new production factories at Fanuc's Mt Fuji headquarters.

Dr Inaba continues as co-chairman of GE Fanuc Automation Corporation and Mr Nozawa retains his position as co-chairman of GE Fanuc Automation Europe.
