THE term “plant” as used in this article is to be understood to include all the jigs, tools and special apparatus necessary for the construction of an aeroplane, in so far as they are adapted for the production of one definite type. Jigs or plant, as commonly used in machine or heavy‐metal construction, do not, therefore, fall within this category. While in past years all plant was included under “jigs,” today, with the progressive development of sheet‐forming by machinery, presses have become an important means of working. Jigs form, therefore, only a part of the total plant expenditure.
