THE following report on some random material tests made by the D.V.L. on armour‐plates and some fragments of steel components of captured (non‐German) aircraft will not include the power‐plants, as they are being dealt with elsewhere. The report deals principally with components of British aircraft, although some French and American machines are mentioned. The investigations were confined to the components presenting special interest; in this connexion it must be remembered that often only fragments were available, which were not always in the most suitable condition for testing. Parts which had suffered from heat were usually excluded from examination.
