ALTHOUGH it is obviously a four‐engined development of the Manchester the Lancaster is a very great improvement on the earlier aeroplane. It is remarkable not only in that it is exceptionally fine as a flying machine, but also (and more rarely in this country) because it is very well‐designed from the production side, and the gap between the prototype and large‐scale production has been exceptionally small.
