THE Auster is a development of the original Cub, for the manufacture of which in this country the British Taylorcraft Co. was formed nearly ten years ago. The Cub was an ultra‐light 40 h.p. tandem two‐seater intended as a very cheap aeroplane for the private owner or the small flying club. The type was developed and, shortly before the war, a side‐by‐side twoseater with a Cirrus Minor engine was produced. This version was adopted by the R.A.F. and F.A.A. for communications duties, and was given the Service name of Auster.
