On the occasion of the first post‐war Exhibition of the Society of British Aircraft Constructors, we are publishing a representative selection of Britain's most outstanding aeroplanes. This supplement is not intended as a work of reference, but more as an epitome of the principal features of some of the World's best aeroplanes of the day. It has, perforce, been necessary to restrict our selection to eleven types, representing the fighters, bombers and transports that are at present in production for the Royal Air Force and British air lines. Prototypes have been omitted, and it should be realized that two notable omissions (the Tudor I and Vickers‐Armstrongs Viking) were illustrated in AIRCRAFT ENGINEERING in October and November 1945 respectively.
