Eddy current losses and dielectric losses that are normally headaches to the radio engineer are being used on an increasing scale as methods of industrial heating. The former is used for the heat treatment of metals but, until the introduction of the Philips F.V.100 generator, a large number of operations and processes that could benefit from this method have been outside the scope of the equipments manufactured because the power required has been beyond the capacity of existing valve driven plant.
