MOST British people who go to what is commonly called the Paris Aero Show think of it first as an opportunity to assess the work of the French aircraft industry, and indeed in the past the function was dominated by the industry of the organizing country. The trend in recent years, however, has been towards greater foreign participation so that at the XXIIIe. Salon International de l'Aéronautique the home entry was on roughly level terms with that of the larger overseas exhibitors, and indeed almost dwarfed by the U.S.A.F. representation. However Le Bourget was not the best place to see American or indeed other foreign aircraft as the exhibits were inevitably selective. Our full report will, the printing dispute permitting, appear in the August issue. Meanwhile we propose to confine our attention to the French industry alone.
