Known as Small Rocket Lift Device (SRLD), a rocket belt worn by one man has been successfully demonstrated by Bell Acrosystems Company and the U.S. Army Transportation Research Command. More than thirty flights have been carried out, and average altitude maintained for distance tests has been 3 to 4 ft. over ranges of 360 ft. No attempts have been made to achieve a maximum speed but 20 m.p.h. has been attained.
