To ensure that vibration measurements are accurate, it is advisable to check pick‐ups and meters frequently. A reliable standard to facilitate this work has now been designed by Dawe Instruments Ltd, Western Avenue, Acton, London W.3. Known as the Type 1436 Vibration Calibrator, it comprises a small moving‐coil vibration generator mounted in a simple stand. When plugged into the mains, it provides vibration at an acceleration level of 10g.
