IT was a strange coincidence that took us last month to the geographical ends of the British aircraft industry, to the homes of two former stalwarts of the flying boat era. With mixed feelings, we stood beside the lapping water on the concrete slipways, which once facilitated the passage of the giant hulls, and reflected upon the re‐orientation of this part of the industry.
