Increasing Productivity in Precision Engineering: An Introduction to the G.S.P.‐MATIC Jig‐Borer Which Has Recently Been Installed by Sperry Gyroscope Co. Ltd. With Particular Reference to the Production of Storage Drums for Airborne Computers

A MAJOR advance in the production capability of the Sperry Gryoscope Co. Ltd., has occurred recently following the installation of a G.S.P.‐MATIC automatic jig‐boring machine of French design. This machine can on certain jobs increase productivity by as much as fifteen times and is at present being used to drill, bore, broach and tap magnetic storage drum mantles—among them the Sperry Type D light‐weight mantle for the Decca Omnitrac airborne digital computer.
