Equipment, Programmes, Techniques and Projects. Whether the aeroplane hits the bird or the bird hits the aeroplane depends, perhaps, on the point of view. For the bird the question is clearly academic, but for the aircraft engineer who must design his structure, and in particular the windscreen canopy, to withstand the collision with a four‐pound bird, the matter is of some importance.
