THE increased size, gross weight and engine power of the Super VC10, compared with the standard VC10 now flying, has led to the fin torsion box structure being constructed as an integral fuel tank. It is built up of integrally‐machined panels in a similar fashion to the main wing structure. This component (and the horizontal tailplane) is built by Sud‐Aviation at its StNazaire plant in France. The fuel tank capacity is 1,340 Imperial gallons.
