D NAPIER AND SOX, LTD., have recently for the first time entered the light‐aircraft engine field—or perhaps it would be more accurate to say have decided to cater for the private aeroplane owner who desires accommodation in a comfortable cabin for himself and and three passengers. The firm's intention has been to provide a robust engine capable of developing 150 horse‐power for Jong periods while in the air and giving lengthy reliable service between overhauls. For this reason they have gone to the six‐cylinder in‐line air‐cooled type, inverted to give the best possible view forwards and downwards The Napier E97 engine actually develops its rated power of 152 h.p. at 2,000 normal r.p m.
