THE British Aircraft Corporation have taken a long hard look at the expected market for civil transport aircraft for the decade to come and into the eighties. Their research was of course biased towards the areas in which they have aircraft to offer and the approach was basically two‐pronged with a global assessment of future market demands backed by separate analyses of the requirements of individual operators. The company expects that the One‐Eleven will remain in production for some years: they are confident that there is a large requirement for a wide‐bodied twin‐engined new generation airliner in the Three‐Eleven category. As for Concorde, it only remains to be proven in its supersonic cruise versus range capability for it to be in a class of its own.
