High‐Pressure Forming — a New Production Technology in Aircraft Construction

One of MBB's aims in making Airbus production more competitive is to reduce manufacturing costs by exploiting the technical and technological possibilities of existing production facilities. The MBB Transport Aircraft Group has made another important advance in this field: by the process of forming at high pressure — up to 2,500 bar — the Group will be able to make substantial reductions in the cost of manufacturing certain components previously produced by conventional milling.
