THE MERO structure consisting of pre‐fabricated nodes and members was invented by Dr. Max Mengeringhausen in the fourties and apart from other purposes it has been applied for the manufacture of maintenance platforms for aircraft since the middle of the fifties. Where in the beginning there were only scaffoldings with wheels, stairways, railings and wooden decking, there are now complex docks of MERO structure surrounding the aircraft in several levels after having introduced wide‐bodied aircraft.
