IN December 1988 the training of British Airways flight crews for Boeing 747–436 aircraft began in the first of a suite of Rediffusion simulators. The new aircraft is due to come into service in April and for this event, 100 pilots will need to be trained with a further 200 required by April, 1990. They will be selected mainly from the existing pilot work force. Four 747–436's will be delivered this year with a total of 11 available for the summer 1990 season and all 19 aircraft by 1991.
