America West Airlines has opened a state‐of‐the‐art maintenance facility with a paint bay that strips aircraft paint faster, safer and more cost‐effectively than by chemical removal methods. Using a PRAM (Plastic Reclaimable Abrasive Machine) V Plastic Media Blast System — made by Pauli & Griffin, Vacaville, California—America West dry strips aircraft paint by blasting it with plastic media which is easily recovered and cleaned for reuse.
