The new Q180 from Ai Qualitek is an accurate ultrasonic leak detector for large volume enclosures(Plate 7).

Escaping air or gas, even at low pressure, emits a noise which is often inaudible to the human ear. The Q180 detects this noise and converts it to audible frequencies which can be heard through the operator's headphones. Background noise can be tuned out using the fine adjustment control on the handle.

For large volume enclosures, such as finished vehicles, aeroplane fuselage sections or storage tanks and vessels an optional transmitter is available. The transmitter is placed inside the enclosure and emits ultrasonic noise which will penetrate the enclosure wherever it is not leak tight.

The Q180 is supplied complete with headphones, charger and carrying case. Accessories include a variety of sensors, transmitters, and a wall-mounted charging station.
