Druck announces the receipt of an order from British Airways Avionic Engineering Ltd (BAAE) for seven Ruska Model 7215 precision pressure controllers, which will be used in engine and instrumentation test applications at their repair and maintenance facility at Llantrisant, near Cardiff.
Of the seven units supplied, five are rated at 50psi absolute and will be applied to the simulation of turbojet input and exhaust pressures in the precision measurement of engine pressure ratios.
The remaining two units, each rated at 20 psi absolute, will be used to control the pressures and vacuums to an altitude simulation chamber for the precision testing and alignment of altimeters. Programming allows simulated altitudes to be cycled for the verification of instrument accuracy between zero and full scale.
In both applications the ability of the Model 7215 to reach 90 per cent of a prescribed pressure or vacuum within 10 sec., prior to automatic fine adjustment, minimises test times.
Featuring Ruska's proven fused-quartz Bourdon tube sensor, the Model 7215 claims 0.007 per cent full scale accuracy, and stability better than 0.01 per cent of reading per year(Plate 10). Calibration, which is recommended at just one-year intervals, involves a simple, internal menu-driven process with only three calibration points. Accordingly, the controller claims significant benefits in these critical test applications, combining extremely fast test throughput with long-term high accuracy and minimal downtime.
