A new metal plate embossing system, reported to be designed to perform quickly and efficiently while withstanding the hardships of the factory environment, has been launched by NBS Technologies Limited. Known as the MP400, it is claimed to represent the next generation of metal plate embossers and has been designed for minimal ongoing maintenance. The MP400 has been constructed with a straightforward and simple design allowing for maximum performance.
Metal plate embossing is now one of the most common and effective means of securing the identification and tracking of products in the automobile, aircraft, steel and other industries. Embossing systems are, however, characterised by high noise levels,low output and frequent maintenance problems. The MP400 has been built with fewer mechanical parts, without undermining productivity. The machine claims to emboss a 50-character plate at an impressive rate of 200 plates per hour and is rated for continuous operation.
The MP400's design is also believed to make it the quietest embosser of its type. The cover has noise reduction properties as well as the ability to protect the equipment while being operated in a dusty environment. The MP400 has several impressive safety features which include an interlock on the door which prevents access during operation, a panic button to disable production in an emergency, and is constructed using fire resistant materials. The MP400 is short circuit protected to isolate the power supply, thus avoiding power drain at the source.
An LCD panel provides the operator with the current machine status and, in addition, a warning light and an audible alarm remind the operator to load plates or to attend to the machine. It is also equipped with a universal autofeed, and changes from one type of plate to another can be made by the operator in around one minute.

Standard interface protocols are available (i.e. Xon-Xoff, multi embosser) and any non-standard requirements can readily be accommodated. This allows the MP400 to be a comprehensive replacement of existing machinery. Alternatively, NBS has an extensive range of standalone PC solutions and can offer appropriate software and customisation services.
