Instrumentation tubes offer improved corrosion resistance

Keywords Corrosion resistance, Stainless steel, Tubing, TW Metals

Stainless steel tube distributor, TW Metals Ltd, formerly Tubesales (UK) Ltd, is now supplying AISI 316L seamless instrumentation tubing with reported improved corrosion resistance and conforming to NACE MR0175 "Standard Material Requirements" (for materials used in oil field equipment).

In response to market requirements for increased safety and use in more challenging environments, the TW Metals range of tubes for instrumentation, measurement, hydraulic and actuation applications contains higher minimum contents of nickel and molybdenum. These two chemical elements contribute to improved corrosion resistance, particularly pitting.

In addition, all instrumentation tubes stocked by TW Metals meet the more stringent Rockwell hardness requirement of HRb 80 max., as often specified by engineers in preference to the standard hardness HRb 90 max. as stated in ASTM A269.

TW Metals' stock of instrumentation tubes ranges from 0.250in. outside diameter up to 0.750in. outside diameter in wall thicknesses from 0.036in. to 0.083in.. A full, equivalent range of metric tubes can also be supplied. As well as AISI 316L material grade, other grades available include AISI 304L, AISI 321, Duplex, nickel and high grade alloys.
