Major Fiat Avio order for Vacu-Blast

Vacu-Blast part of the USF Surface Preparation Group has been awarded a major contract by Fiat Avio for two new machines: an advanced universal shot peening system for the company's Turin plant and a controlled etching machine for its Brindisi aeroengine facility.
The Turin universal CNC shot peener will be able to process the widest variety of parts from aero-engines of any manufacture, to improve or restore fatigue resistance. These include turbine discs, fan discs, compressor spools, blade aerofoils and roots,as well as transmission components such as gears and shafts, made from Inconel 718, steel and titanium. Parts to be processed include those for the"Eurofighter Typhoon". S110 and S170 steel shot peening media will normally be used.
Both machines are due to be delivered later this year.
