Ampex DCRsi data recorders selected for Nimrod MR Mk2 upgrade

Normalair Garrett Limited(NGL) has chosen Ampex Great Britain Limited to supply 23 of its advanced DCRsi digital cartridge recorders for use on board the Nimrod MR Mk2 Maritime Reconnaissance Aircraft.
In 1993, this same team was selected for a similar contract to supply mission recorders for the Merlin EH 101 Maritime Reconnaissance Helicopter. Under the new pact NGL will develop data control and mechanical interfaces. This will allow standard DCRsi-75 digital recorders to be fitted directly into the aircraft racks, currently occupied by the existing multi-track analogue recorder.
To accomplish this without modification to existing aircraft systems, it is necessary to multiplex a large number of multi-channel analogue and digital sensor inputs into a parallel digital format prior to recording. This electronic circuitry will be fitted within the DCRsi-75.
