TÜV Product Service Limited has invested in new high specification EMC chambers, designed to meet the demanding test requirements of today's defence, aerospace, automotive and rail industries (Plate 1).
The most impressive of the new facilities at Titchfield is a shielded enclosure which can be configured, by means of a demountable dividing wall, as two anechoic/ferrite hybrid enclosures measuring 5m × 7m × 6m. In this configuration, the chamber offers the flexibility for running separate investigations, or for system testing paired elements which, when deployed, will experience different threat levels, for example in above/below deck naval environments.
With the dividing wall removed, the facility is configured as a 10m × 7m × 6m chamber with a 3.5m flush turntable and 4m × 4m access. In this configuration the chamber has the capacity for large platform testing, for example offering the automotive industry facilities for whole vehicle testing.

In addition to this highly flexible facility, TÜV Product Service has installed two 7m × 5m× 5m anechoically lined enclosures.
The new enclosures complement TÜV Product Service's existing EMC test capability to provide the most comprehensive package on the market for radiated/conducted emission/susceptibility testing and transient testing. It is supported by RF power generation equipment spanning the 10kHz to 40GHz range, delivering field strengths at 1m up to 1kV/m.
TÜV Product Service Limited can test to virtually all military, civil aerospace, automotive, and rail standard test specifications. Its UKAS accredited laboratory is also an appointed Technical Service to the Vehicle Certification Agency (VCA) for type approval testing for EMC in accordance with EC Directives and ECE Regulations.
TÜV Product Service's highly trained and experienced engineers can also provide an effective advisory service in design for compliancy, and in the generation of test plans which may be a contractual requirement for defence and aerospace projects.
The company's capability for comprehensive environmental simulation complements the expanded EMC facility to offer logistical and cost benefits through a complete test and interactive advisory solution at one location.
