Polish airline LOT acquires 12 ERJ-145s

Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer and Polish airline LOT announced the purchase of 12 ERJ-145 50-seat regional jets, of which six are firm orders and six options. The contract is valued at approximately US$200 million and first delivery is scheduled for July 1999.

According to Mauricio Botelho, Ernbraer's President and CEO:

This represents a milestone for the company since it is the first time that Embraer has secured a contract for its 50-seat regional jet in one of the Eastern European countries. Far more than being the seventh European operator of the ERJ-145, this purchase contract provides Embraer with a solid foothold into a promising market.
