Carbon brakes for Airbus
Keywords: Braking systems, Qatar Airways, Messier-Bugatti
Qatar Airways has chosen Messier-Bugatti wheels and carbon brakes, from a strong international field of competitors, for its 16 recently-acquired Airbus A320 twinjets. The airline recently took delivery of its first A320s.
Worth approximately $25 million over the life of the A320 fleet, this contract also marks the first order for Messier-Bugatti's new Sepcarb III PLUS brakes -- which claim even lower maintenance costs.
Sepcarb III PLUS is the latest and highest-performance development of the Sepcarb III carbon brake that first entered service in 1996. According to Messier-Bugatti, its new carbon brake allows airlines to reduce maintenance costs even further, and can be adapted to any A320 using a simple kit.
