Vocational qualifications for aircraft maintenance engineers

Keywords: Training, Aerospace, Maintenance, CAA, Engineering

EMTA Awards Ltd (EAL) an awarding body for engineering National and Scottish Vocational Qualifications, has launched a new aviation NVQ, Aircraft Engineering Maintenance available at Levels Two and Three. The Aircraft Engineering Maintenance award complements the licences and approvals granted in the UK by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), and is proof that an individual is competent to carry out maintenance work on aircraft.

The award at Level Two or Three is suitable for anyone working in avionics or mechanical trades in both aircraft and component maintenance. To achieve the NVQ at either level an individual must prove competence in a number of aircraft maintenance skills, from aircraft component installation and setting control systems to aircraft repairs and aircraft maintenance. The Aircraft Engineering Maintenance NVQ will also provide evidence of the practical experience for an aircraft engineer's licence application.

Further details are available from EAL. Tel: +44 (0) 345 581207.
