First 'Aero H+' certification
Keywords Racal, Honeywell, Satellites
The Racal/Honeywell Satcom team has achieved what is thought to be the world's first Aero H+ business aviation category certification on-board a Global Express. In addition, the Aero H+ configuration has now been certified on a Canadian Airlines International Boeing 747-400 and a Corsair operated Airbus A330.
Aero H+ combines the technology and benefits of the original high-gain ("H")Satcom system with the lower usage cost benefits of the new Aero-I "spot beam"system. Using the same Inmarsat satellites for the Aero-H and Aero-I series, the system typically operates in the more cost-effective Aero-I environment which has lower point utilisation costs, switching to the global Aero H environment as required. The Aero H+ technology is available from Racal /Honeywell for forward-fit production as well as for retrofit and all current hardware is capable of supporting either Aero H+ or Aero-I services.
