KLM Royal Dutch Airlines' manager of inflight communications Sophie Vossenaar has been elected president of the World Airline Entertainment Association (WAEA)for the 2000-2001 term. An international member organisation, the WAEA represents approximately 100 passenger airlines and 300 airline-supplier companies committed to excellence in airline inflight entertainment and communications.

As WAEA president, Sophie will preside over a board of directors composed of key representatives of the airline, entertainment, communications, and electronics industries world-wide.

Kent Craver, manager of product marketing for Continental Airlines, was elected to WAEA vice president. Joan Barker, sales and marketing director for Inflight Productions Ltd, sustains as WAEA secretary. Linda Palmer, senior vice president, non-theatrical sales with Buena Vista Pictures Non-Theatrical, Inc.,was re-elected WAEA treasurer for a two-year term.

Airline and supplier-company representatives newly elected to the WAEA board of directors are: Sarah Blomfield, manager – Product, Cathay Pacific Airways; Joe Carreira, vice president/ managing director, AEI Music, Inflight Division; Sue Luxem, product manager inflight media, American Airlines; Sue Pinfold, head of operations, Spafax.

Re-elected and sustaining WAEA directors are: Janice Daniello of Post Modern Edit; Al McGowan of TEAC America, Inc., Mary Rogozinski of United Airlines, and Jim Snyder of Rockwell Collins Passenger Systems. Immediate Past WAEA president Karen Schipper of El Al Israel Airlines becomes WAEA chairman emeritus.
