It is reported that PricewaterhouseCoopers has been appointed by the European Commission to develop a business plan for the GALILEO project as a basis for getting private sector involvement.
GALILEO is the European initiative on a world-wide Satellite Navigation System. It will be based on about 30 satellites providing a range of navigation services (open, safety-of- life, commercial, public regulated service) and navigation related services (search and rescue, communication) It is expected to be operational from 2008. It will be one of the key components of the European Union's Transport Trans European Network (TEN-T).
