Airbus UK chooses Cabis software tool
Keywords: Databases, Computer software
It is reported that Aircraft wing maker Airbus UK has chosen a system called"Cabis Quality" for its quality management department in Broughton, North Wales. The system is produced by software developer Cabis limited of Manchester in the United Kingdom.
Cabis Quality is described as an extremely powerful relational database built on SQL Server 7. The system consists of two tools; Quality Systems Manager and Quality Improvement Manager.
It claims a number of novel features. For example – information is comparable to preset standards, and it was this attribute in particular which has allowed early adopters of Cabis Quality to reap real benefits. A subsidiary of British Vita plc -Jackdaw Polymers, was able to obtain QS 9000 without the usually mandatory twelve months pre-award operation.
Airbus' Quality Project Manager Stuart Barnford said "Clearly wings are a crucial component for an aircraft and they represent a very high proportion of its value. It is vital that when quality issues arise they are identified at the earliest possible stage. We needed a powerful system to help us track all issues in the complex wing manufacturing and assembly process."
