ALSTOM's Research & Technology Centre (ART), based in Stafford, UK, has achieved the latest accreditation for its shock, vibration and seismic testing from the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
The centre is among the first testing facilities in the UK to achieve BS EN ISO/ IEC 17025, the new standard specification introduced earlier this year. It replaces the former UKAS MI0 certification.
It provides a comprehensive research, development and testing service for a wide range of industries, including defence and aerospace.
The new UKAS accreditation relates to the centre's seismic, shock and vibration testing, which is carried out as part of the centre's environmental testing and qualification service. The facility assesses the ability of products to withstand the mechanical, electrical or atmospheric conditions in which they have to operate.
