Spares and Rotable support is a fundamental feature for the operation of any aircraft. This is especially true when the aircraft are expected to operate world-wide and in some cases, to inhospitable areas. Aircraft flown by the RAF are always ready to deploy, on some occasions to the most unpleasant locations in the world. It is therefore with some pride that Marshall Aerospace is able to announce that the contract to support the RAF TriStar fleet with spares and rotables has been won by the Spares and Rotables Division of the Company.

This was a hard fought competition, against many reputable companies, which will now see Marshall Aerospace provide all component repairs and overhaul support for the entire RAF TriStar fleet. The support for spares and rotables will cover the full range of maintenance lines from the volatile 1st to the deep engineering of 4th line. The simulator, which is a vital component in the basic training and continuation training for aircrew will also be supported by the Marshall Aerospace contract.

The contract, which will also encompass ground equipment and test equipment, commenced in January 2002 and could run for up to 10 years depending on the life of the TriStar. The Marshall Aerospace team now stands ready to commence work and provide the essential support to the RAF. The Spares and Rotables Division will undertake the management of the contract from the main facility in Cambridge. However, with such a vital task supporting one the RAF's frontline aircraft a dedicated, well-motivated team will provide repair and logistic support from RAF Brize Norton, which is the main operating base for the TriStar.
