Alignment International reports that its Multi Point Portable Measurement Systems can measure the x, y and z coordinates of up to one hundred points on any object down to 0.01 mm simultaneously. Using digital photogrammetry it provides a real time display of the relative movement of individual points and the rotations and translation of any object. Either related to a reference system or directly to the CAD model of itself or the component to which it is to be aligned. These readings can be up dated automatically once a second. The system calculates live correction values for shimming and can be used as part of a closed loop control system for live positioning for real time actuator control. Alignment International asserts that it can be used for virtually any engineering process which requires the measurement of distortions in shape, and positioning and repeatability within 6 degrees of freedom. In AI's opinion there is no need to use LDTS, clocks gauges or single point laser trackers, support structures, special jigs or calibration routines. Simply hot glue a target where you want to measure and go.

AI can provide this equipment either as a measurement service, anywhere in the World, or the system itself, bath with full technical support for system integration. Recent Aerospace applications include: Inspection and Alignment of International Space Station modules, wing spar deformation and jig stability testing-Airbus and 'Real time' wing positioning -Airbus Filton.
