As a specialist in mass vibratory finishing machines, USF Walther Trowal has a wide experience of manufacturing centrifuges to separate out solid materials from the sludges produced by vibratory and wet blast finishing (Plate 1).

USF has therefore launched the ZM 03 range of Centrifugal Effluent Machines, which will reportedly process up to 260 gallons of waste water per hour, separating metal fines, broken down media and oils from process water, converting them into an easily disposable dry cake.

USF ZM 03 machines are said to be able to separate solids down to 1mm meaning that 90 per cent of the compound and 95 per cent of the water used in the finishing process can be recycled, reducing waste disposal costs, saving on labour, and eliminating environmental problems.

They feature double diaphragm supply pumps for the effluent and process water in-feeds, a motor driven gear paddle stirrer in the dirty water tank and a high G-force balanced aluminium centrifugal bowl. Several models are available: ZM 03-ECO, a small unit for single machine use and ZM 03-DO, a unit with two centrifuges which can service several mass finishing or wet blasting machines, creating space and resource efficiencies.

Optional features include compound/water and flocculent dosing stations; pump stations, processing water pumps, in-feed control valve, out of balance control and re-cooling devices.
