A new technical web site is set to provide engineers and designers looking for a solution to an assembly problem with a wealth of technical information.

Textron Fastening Systems' new web site at www.avdel.textron.com is dedicated to its Avdel brand of blind as well as structural bolt-type fasteners, installation tooling and threaded inserts.

Visitors can view on-line over 100 of the company's latest technical product data sheets as well as download its eight main Avdel product catalogues and nearly 50 installation tool manuals.

We found that the site contained a highly useful glossary of fastener and tooling terminology plus a "most frequently asked questions" section which complements this wealth of technical information.

The glossary includes colour animations of different types of fastener placement as well as concise explanations of an extensive listing of terms such as peel tails, bulbing, torque to turn, etc.

The new site also contains details of Avdel hand and automated installation tools together with information on new product launches, a company profile, an Avdel brand history and an extensive listing of global contacts. Reflecting the global product offering and £1.2bn turnover of the Textron Fastening Systems Group with manufacturing and engineering facilities in 19 countries, the site includes links to the group's main web pages and information on its extensive ranges of threaded fasteners and engineered products.
