USF Vacu-Blast reports buoyant aerospace sales

Controlled abrasive blasting and shot peening specialist, USF Vacu-Blast International (part of the global USF Surface Preparation Group), based in Slough, UK, reports sales approaching £1 million into the European aerospace sector over the last quarter of 2002 and into 2003.

Customers include BAe Systems, Pratt and Whitney and Fiat Avio Italy, plus a number of other major UK-based aeroengine and airframe manufacturing and maintenance operations and the Royal Air Force.

Equipment supplied includes sophisticated CNC shot peening systems for enhancing the fatigue resistance of fan discs, blades, shafts and other aeroengine components, "Ventus" controlled abrasive etching machines for surface preparation prior to plasma spraying, coating and painting, and "Closed-Circuit"mobile blasting machines for localised corrosion removal and plastic media paint stripping.

"Even in the face of strong UK and international competition,the aerospace side of our business continues to flourish – this is a testament to our high level of technical expertise and reputation for reliability, and also reflects the continuing growth of the aviation sector."
