Boeing names Cranfield professor vice president for future market

Boeing recently named Fariba Alamdari vice president, Future Market at Boeing Commercial Aeroplanes.

Alamdari comes to Boeing from Cranfield University, where she was Head of the Department of Air Transport and dean of faculty of Engineering, Science and Manufacturing. She will be responsible for Boeing's efforts in identifying,analysing and building strategies for the long-term commercial aviation market and will report to Nicole Piasecki, Vice President of Business Strategies and Marketing at Boeing Commercial Aeroplanes. She begins her duties this week.

“Fariba brings world-class marketing and economic expertise in the global aviation industry, and we are thrilled to bring her global industry leadership to the Boeing team,” Piasecki said. “I look forward to her contributions to ensuring Boeing market leadership in the decades to come.”

Alamdari is the author of over 80 articles and reports on aviation related issues. She has advised airlines, airports, aircraft manufacturers, regulatory bodies and service providers world-wide on matters related to marketing and economics of aviation industry, especially on the strategic implications of airline deregulation including the development and growth of low cost airlines.

She obtained her PhD on the economic impact of airline deregulation in 1988 from Cranfield University. She has a master's degree in transport economics and a first degree in politics and economic studies. She is a member of Air Transport Research Society and a fellow of Royal Aeronautical Society.
